BEAM ARMCHAIR

BEAM ARMCHAIR
WITH CUSHIONS

Piet Hein Eek, NL, 2013

Wooden beams, wooden boards, weathered, well stored, with the nails removed, and cleaned. Rough and rustic, very large. Put together one by one in old carpenter’s fashion. The cushions are covered in military tent canvas. Hardy and tough. Stains are not an issue. Put into use, this furniture can last forever.

ABOUT

PIET HEIN EEK

Piet Hein Eek

The story of Piet Hein Eek’s professional life began in 1990. With his well-known early design, the Scrapwood Cupboard, he wanted to show that products which are not perfect can still appeal to aesthetic sensibilities and the need for functionality. The combination of uncommon materials and unusual but simple methods of working have become the thread that runs through his work. By continually sidestepping conventions and industry expectations, the designer and entrepreneur has shaped his own identity – one that has increasingly become recognized by followers as a “Piet Hein Eek style”.
