ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Born in Angola, Fernando Brízio holds a degree in design from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, the city where he lives and works. His work, sometimes developed without being commissioned, has challenged disciplinary boundaries. He has developed objects produced industrially as well as limited series, along with exhibitions, set-design and interior spaces for companies and organizations such as Droog (The Netherlands), Experimentadesign (Portugal), Cor Unum (The
Netherlands), Nike (Portugal), Authentics (Germany), Fábrica Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro (Portugal), ModaLisboa (Portugal), Il Coccio (Italy), Established & Sons (United Kingdom), Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art (Portugal), Cristina Guerra Contemporary Art (Portugal) and Galerie kreo (France).
He is a professor and the coordinator of the product design master’s programme at ESAD–Escola Superior de Artes e Design Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, and has been a visiting professor at ECAL–École cantonale d’art de Lausanne, Switzerland, and the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, Germany. He has participated in numerous conferences and juries in Portugal and abroad. His work is exhibited and published internationally, forming part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Design and Fashion in Lisbon, and of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, USA, as well as various private collections.
