We cordially invite you to the international conference entitled Trash it? Burn It? Use It! Rubbish Dump or Workshop? Creative Approaches to Trash on 30 November and 1 December 2017 of ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen in cooperation with the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (MKG).

This conference accompanies the ifa exhibition Pure Gold – Upcycled! Upgraded! and will look at the structures of a globalised consumer society, and also discuss solutions in the use and value-enhancement of waste. The international curators of Pure Gold and further experts from environment, research, and the creative economy will introduce diverse themes. The conference will also include workshops, interactive discussion and action formats, as an open platform for designers, the maker scene and civil society.

The exhibition Pure Gold – Upcycled! Upgraded! at the MKG (15 September 2017 to 21 January 2018) also marks ifa’s centennial. It will explore the products and results of upcycling methods and practices from all over the world. The conference will give a face to the protagonists behind many designs.

An ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) conference in cooperation with the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg. The conference is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The conference will be held in German and English. Participation is free of charge.
